Birth Continued....

The hours following Noah's birth were the scariest moments of my life. Within an hour of delivery the pediatrician noticed that Noah's chest was retracting and that he was having a hard time breathing. A 15 minute observation turned into a 7 day ordeal. At 2am the nurse practitioner from the level II nursery at Methodist came to speak with me about Noah's condition. She had zero answers and the look on her face told me that my little man was in a lot of trouble. He was breathing 147 times in a minute. I will save you the whole fiasco and shorten it up a bit. After 2 days at Methodist they started comparing Noah's lungs to fetal death. They were turning more and more grey. We transferred him to Texas Childrens and within seconds my son was assigned a team of angels. He was immediately placed on a ventilator and was given a dose of surfactant. We crossed our fingers hoping the diagnoses of immature lungs would hold. The team let us know they had done everything they could do, now it was up to our little man to fight.

In the mean time I was discharged from the hospital. Leaving was incredibly hard. I came home to scrub my floors and do laundry. No pain meds post delivery and honestly no recovery. All I wanted was to bring Noah home. Madelyne was so confused. My belly was smaller, but where was her brother. Nothing was like we had planned. There was no small family birthday party for Noah at the hospital, no he is your gift from Noah and vis versa....It was this is your little brother, don't touch any wires or cords. He is very sick. She became really confused. We caught he putting things in her nose to look like her little brother.

The staff was amazing at Texas Children's. 5 days after delivery I was able to hold my little boy for as long as I wanted, and the next day I was able to nurse for the first time. On day 7 he was able to come home. Everyday Noah got better 1 day he was off the ventilator, off c-pap, and eventually he was on room air. Our God is truly amazing. Noah made leaps and bounds in a very small amount of time.

The day we brought him home Madelyne was at daycare. Josh waited in the car with him and I went to go inside to get her. I didn't tell her he was in the car, I just put her in her seat right next to him. She looked over and the look on her face was priceless. It was such an amazing moment.

Noah's Birth Story

I know it has been a while. I am going to try and catch up in a series of posts so bear with me.

In the weeks that lead up to Noah's birth especially the last week, I was up during the nights with false labor. I guess that made for such a quick delivery. On the day he was born I was very uncomfortable the night before. I dreamed that Madelynes carriage/castle was on my stomach and the pressure was unbearable. Josh woke me up as he left for work and I told him I was going to have Noah that day and I would call him later when he needed to leave work. All morning I somewhat threw stuff in a bag and called and made an afternoon appointment with my doctor. I called Josh and told him to meet me there at 2. When I showed up to my moms the first thing she said to me was " you would go into labor with your dad gone"...I guess it was all over my face.

I left Madelyne with her and met Josh at the Dr.'s office. I was 4 cm dilated and she told me to meet her at the hospital in no more than 2 hours. I went home in a state of panic and tossed some stuff in a bag. I cried as we rode to my moms to drop Mati off. I was thinking it was our last few moments as a family of three. Josh thought I was crazy. I just blamed it on the hormones. We took our time, picking up an early dinner. I got there about 3 hours after my appointment and by that time I was a 6. I opted for the epidural and my pain level never went over a 3. my doctor came to visit and they put me on a small dose of pit while she went and did a csection. She returned ready to pop my water. After I told her to go grab some dinner and come back and see me. As she closed the door I felt so much pressure and within 10 minutes I felt like I needed to push. She came running back and told me she knew she didn't need to get dinner. She popped my water sometime between 9:20 and 9:30 pm and I delivered Noah at 9:53pm. The family was ecstatic. Mati held her little brother and I was flooded with all the emotions mommies get right after giving birth. Those are the moments I held on to for the next 7 days because nothing could have prepared us for what would happen about an hour after her was born.

Almost gone!

Well people the year is almost gone! :) I am happy to see 2010 come and go. It hasn't been our best year, and I am excited about the new things about to happen for our family.

School is over, and I racked in all A's! whew! That felt great. This may be too much TMI, but I have noticed that pregnant women and their husbands share way too much when they are expecting so I will use that as my excuse. I mean Josh was telling his old boss about me planning to nurse for as long as I can, and I felt like I was sitting there NAKED! lol.. Anyways so here it goes..In April we started trying to get pregnant as planned....in May I finished my first semester back in college and got all A's going full time. I was so excited I told Josh we had to celebrate...we went out to eat..and 40 weeks later little Noah will be here! So yay for school...hehehe

Speaking of Noah... we should hopefully see his handsome face in about 42 days! Compared to what most people think I am pretty comfortable right now.. I worry that 6 weeks isn't long enough and I thank God I haven't moved into that "give me my body back" phase...I mean...I had to have been feeling it by now last time. I am pretty proud of myself for handling it all so well... I know I have yet to post a belly shot..and I really need to. We got some awesome pictures done last weekend, so once I have them back they will be up!

Madelyne is being treated for pneumonia, poor thing! Josh and I have been rotating being out of work all week. It really makes me appreciate my mom keeping her 90 % of the time when she is sick so we don't have to miss. She is out of town this week and I had to put on my big girl panties! She is doing better so just say a little prayer for our moo!

Josh and I are doing great. Transocean had a shower for us this past week and I can't tell you what a blessing it was. They bought over have our registry and left the small things like hangers, diapers, and all the little things you put on it for some variety. We received more than we could have hoped for. Anything else is just a blessing... The next 3 weeks are going to be a little crazy..We have the holidays and then the next weekend is our shower for family and friends. I am excited about it all!

Today is my Christmas!!!

Tonight at 6:30 I will be taking my last final of the semester! So say a prayer please!!! I am ready to have a break and enjoy this pregnancy!!!

Study Time!

2 down, 1 to go!

Well finals have not been too brutal this time. I am stressed, but last semester was worse I think. I wrapped up my business law class last Friday and took my BCIS test last night. It was a grueling 3 1/2 hours in a computer lab! Thank God it is done and I am pretty confident both of those classes will be A's!!!! As for my math class, I am also confident it will be an A! Wish me luck, he hasn't been an easy teacher!

I can taste winter break already and I am sooo excited! Josh and I are going to start working out at night now that our nights are free! I am a little nervous! I know I need to modify, but I am soo excited to sweat.

Josh has always been a "budgetor"....Me...not so much. I mean I looked at it, and noticed the totals but I never really paid it much attention. Josh took the route of not saying anything, he let it build up and about a week ago..he exploded! I listened and we had our first real week/ weekend of budgeting and we did great. I know the real test is at the end of the month, but I think I can do it, ohh no I mean I know I can! :) I am actually losing weight due to budgeting...we aren't eating out that much and I am down 2 pounds since last Thursday....hoorraaayy!!!

I am in week 33. Starting to get a little uncomfortable. My belly itches this time...hopefully that is not a sign of stretch marks :( and I can't remember being able to feel so much movement at such long distances in my body. I think he is going to be bigger than his sister. He loves those feet in my ribs also....7 more weeks and no more HEARTBURN or should I say volcanic lava creeping up my throat. yuck!

Mati is doing great! She is talking up a storm and tried to convince me to give her 2 pony tails this morning.. I just had no time. For such a little girl she has a very large opinion. Last night after bathtime she ran up to Josh and said, "I washed my hair daddy"....She loves for him to be proud of her..this morning was "daddy my got dressed"...I have never seen anyone so particular about their undies...its ridiculous...She will only wear princess panties!

Thats about it for our crazy household...I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

7 More Days!!

In 7 days...I will be home...I miss home...FYI my home is Mississippi!

I miss my family and I can't wait for some time with them. This will be my last trip before Noah arrives, so I better make it a good one!
T-72 Days until we could meet little Noah....geez that seems scary! This needs to slow down!

Mommy's Helper!

Last night I was making moo her dinner. I heard her clanking things around in the fridge, but it was giving me a few moments so I didn't say anything...until I noticed she was trying to close the door...THIS caught my attention...

This is short and sweet...Just like moo

Good Morning~

She loves getting her picture taken, sorry its blurry...its from my phone!

I love this picture, my little cuttie!

Doesn't she look to big in this one? I don't like it!

Well Thanksgiving is next week people...:) I can't wait! I can't wait to go home and see my family. I haven't been home since May so I am really needing some family time. I miss my grandma's terrible and I can't wait to get a plate FULL of dressing and rolls...thats pretty much all I eat. We usually always let the kids get theirs first, but I was thinking since Noah is in my belly that maybe I should get to go first with them...for him of course.

Other than that we are doing great....keeping our head above water until the semester is over.

On a side note: I generally hate when pregnant women are whiny...I mean we are all uncomfortable..just get over it. No one said this was going to be easy. I believe some are legit, but 24/7...negative...geez..I feel sorry for that bundle in your belly...SMILE! It will make your day so much better. This pregnancy has been rough, but I have tried to keep that to myself..until now...dum dum dum... I am putting this out there to see if anyone has any suggestions. I have been in extreme back pain the past 2 days, to the point of crying and I need something...I am the kind of person that hates to take tylenol.... pregnant or not I am not about putting drugs into my body, but I have been popping them like candy. Its weird I know...anyways moving on, I thought maybe he was on a nerve...I have gotten down on all fours and rocked like a crazy lady..nothing is working..its my mid back...mainly around the bottom of my left shoulder blade...ANYTHING would be greatly appreciated!

ok so...funny things Madelyne has been saying....

She has been calling Josh and myself...baby and beautiful...you can't help but laugh when she says "I don't want to baby! " lol...

When we tell her its time for bath"Don't wash my hair, ok"

Yesterday she was trying to put Josh's shoes in the closet, the door was closed so she tried and tried to open it...she gave up and told me "My can't do it, my knock it" and just started knocking on the door like someone would open it... hehehe

She found the toy in her happy meal and put her hands up and said "Happy Birthday, birthday tim birthday time" with a little tune.

Everything is "I do it myself"...everything....

She loves to sing....loves to sing...yesterday she must have been stuck on repeat "twinkle twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are ...twinkle twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are"

She has started going to Sunday school and loves it..

She wears big girl panties morning and night and we have zero issues....so nice!

She has been really working on her manners...she makes us tell her "yes ma'm and yes sir" She has no clue that sir is for men.

Thankful

The months are flying by...I wish time would just stand still....

Since November is a month of thanks I thought I would share a few of the things that I am most thankful for....

So much has happened this year, and as it draws to a close soon I am hoping that it was our most challenging for a while. Maybe until law school. We have had the worst of times and some great times this past year. My mother in law passed away suddenly, and the grief still lingers in our hearts. I wonder how excited she would be with Noah on the way. Everytime Mati does something hilarious I tell Josh his mom would have loved this! I try to keep her around as much as possible. I reference her when I can, but we also have to be careful. Madelyne really only remembers the last week I think sometimes. Grey's Anatomy was on and there was a middle-aged woman sitting in a hospital bed, she passed by and asked if that was grandma. My heart skipped a little and I reminded her that grandma was in heaven with Jesus. She gets upset sometimes because she wants to go see Jesus and see grandma. It comes in waves but there will be weeks where she will reference Susan all week. I miss her too Mati moo...we are just so thankful for the week we had with her in the end. She taught me more about life in that last week than most learn in a lifetime.

This year I also started back to school, and boy was that a challenge. I have passed points of stress and exhaustion with flying colors, but it was hard. This December will be the close of my first year down. Although I have a long road ahead of me, it was a year of credits that I didn't have. It was all worth it and I am farther than I have ever been.

This year Madelyne turned 2, and everyday we are blessed with a piece of heaven. She is so smart, funny, and a ball of sass. She is such a sweet natured baby, and melts my heart daily. Honestly we didn't know what we were doing when we decided to get pregnant a few years ago but wow...what a blessing we received.

This year we also found our we would be receiving another blessing in our household. Noah Grayson Kozel has been one of my biggest challenges. My pregnancy has been rather rough on my body this time. I have had moments of questioning our decision to get pregnant again with all the stress our lifestyle comes with, but then our amazing little girl will walk up to me and say "hey beautiful" and I can't wait to meet our little man to hear the things that will come out of his mouth.

This has also been Josh's last full year of school. When his mom passed away he decided to lower his load to deal with the pain, and that pushed him over to next semester. I am so thankful that after 7 years of being in school he will be done. I am so proud of him. I have been there for most of his journey, and my respect for this man is huge. He has had many all nighters...many afternoons away from his family, but he has managed to never let us feel like we are anything but number 1 in his list of priorities. Thank you honey for taking on the burden to better our future.

I am incredibly thankful for my family. My immediate and my in laws. I have such wonderful parents and although we don't always have the same opinion in things we never let it get in the way of our relationship. They are still my parents and you only get one set, you only get one family so I think you should make the best of anything. I think this comes with maturity not just age; you realize you no longer need your parents approval, you just need their love. This past year I have learned that your parents were chosen for you by a much greater power so trust him. Being a parent is not a walk in the park, and there no one is perfect.

Thank you God for blessing us with a great life. We must be doing something right to have received the gifts you have so graciously given.

Satisfaction

Well its been a while so I thought I owed everyone a post!

Little miss priss is completely potty trained and doing an excellent job. We had some issues with # 2, but we soon discovered she needed some privacy. She only does it at home. She will pee anytime anywhere but she will hold the other until she gets home. I think it is kinda funny!

Yesterday was her fall festival at the daycare and she looked so freakin cute! She is going to be an ice cream cone for Halloween from Pottery Barn. She is going to look adorable!

We are 27 weeks tomorrow...and that my friends is freaking scary! If he is like his sister we may meet him in 10 weeks, but I am hoping he is a typical laid back male and takes his time. He can stay in there until my dr will leave him in there. Don't get me wrong, I cant wait to meet this little guy, but the midnight feedings, leaky boobs, bleeding, stitches can take their time to get to me. Sorry if that was TMI, but its the nasty side of childbirth!

I can't wait for this semester to be over so I can slow down, relax, and enjoy life! I have been extremely overwhelmed...I have been playing super mom for too long..it anyone needs this costume for the weekend I will let you borrow, free of charge. The cleaning, school, work, and play with Mati has drained every ounce out of me. I am trying to refocus and get it back together.

HMMM most days I wonder what this little miracle growing in my expanding belly is going to look like. I would love to have a child that looks like me, but Josh was such a handsome little boy with his blonde comb over I am torn! He will be perfect. I am hoping he is a little bigger than 6.2 lbs...Mati was so small it was scary going home with a 5.12 lb baby! A little weight makes me feel a little better!

Here are some funny things Mati has been saying:

Mati was outside in her swing and Josh passed gas...Mati looked at him and said "Josh, you need to poo poo? he said "No" Mati: "ohhh you just tooted" Josh: "Yes" Mati: "Well don't poo poo in your panties, you poo poo in the potty, okay?"

We walked out of our bedroom the other night and baxter was waiting in the hall...Mati looked at Baxter and said "hey beautiful"...

Last week she was so sick, but she informed Josh that her baby was sick, not her..

She pokes her belly out like mommies...its hilarious!

She also let me know she was a princess and she was beautiful...

I have an awesome video of her singing her ABC's she does such a great job, and knows every letter!

The kid talks in her sleep non-stop! She whines...she yells at baxter for stealing her sticker...she asks for blues clues...last weekend she actually asked for donut holes...its pretty funny!

Life is going swell, if it could just slow down and let me breath I would really appreciate it..k..thanks..

Hope all is going great for everyone..I am craving turkey and dressing like a pregnant woman..ohh thats right I am pregnant!

I'm cooking baby!

Well I have decided to learn a new skill. I really want to learn how to COOK! I want Josh to be able to say, yeah my wife works ...goes to school..has babies...and man can she cook! This has always been a skill that I have lacked. My mom always cooked growing up and when she didn't my older sisters did. I was never forced in the kitchen to help make dinner. EVER!
So with all that said, I am really focusing my extra time on cooking. I have been cruising the Paula Dean website and other various recipe blogs. I also have been calling my mom for some of my favorite dinners she use to cook growing up. Josh and I have school 1 night a week on separate nights. I am determined to make dinner those 3 other nights a week and then maybe grill 1 night on the weekend. This is my goal...not a promise. I have patiently been waiting until the beginning of the month so I can splurge on some grocery shopping. My problem is I love to fry things. I went and picked up squash and okra yesterday...and can't wait to fry them. Poor Josh..he is going to have to commit himself to the gym if he wants to stay slim. hehehe..

Other than that school will be in full swing after tonight. My 2 online classes seem simple..its my math class that I am scared of....uhhhh....Lord help me! I always did really well in Math, the only issue is after 9th grade I completely cheated in the class. So I am not re-learning anything...I am learning it for the first time..lol.....If I could only write a letter to me at 16. It would say study hard.....don't bother with boys..keep your head in the books and out of the drama!

One of my first successful dinners was on Monday....stuffed chicken...bacon wrapped and ohh soo yummy....Josh adjusted his pants and told me to add this to my list of things I can cook. Can I get an amen? lol..

Doesn't it look delicious? 25 minutes prep...40 minutes in the oven...so easy! If you want the recipe let me know...I am not going to post it, this isn't a cooking blog sorry!

And I thought I would end with a picture of Madelyne. She loves getting into her mommy's make-up. While cleaning my room I noticed I hadn't heard her for a few minutes..anyone with children knows this can mean trouble....I walk into the bathroom to find her ducked down applying mommy's eyeshadow as blush.....if you look closely you can see her dark cheeks! Gotta love little girls, or at least mine anyways~

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Starting Fresh~!

Good Morning....

I have to say I am feeling amazing today! I had a great weekend with friends and family..and caught up on some much needed rest so now its time to blog.

Friday we went to dinner with a friend from High School that was in town and some close friends of ours. After dinner we headed back to our place to watch a comedy and share some laughs. I fell asleep putting Madelyne and Brittney fell asleep on my couch by 10 so....I don't feel too bad. Saturday mommy slept in Josh took Mati to the little gym! She had a blast and I got some much needed sleep. I am looking forward to going this weekend. That is for sure. Once they got back it was a quick change and then off to a birthday bash. After the birthday we headed off to a baby shower! Madelyne just loved entertaining after she warmed up. We dropped by my moms on the way home and let everyone get their dose of loving and headed home for a nap. Geez that makes me tired just thinking about it! After our nap....moo went to Walmart with her daddy and mommmy went to a "mommy" party with a girlfriend. We had a blast!

Sunday we decided to skip church ( I know, shame shame) and have family time instead. I made a big breakfast and we lounged in our pj's half the day. It was great. We didn't go anywhere. Madelyne played with her water table outside, we had naps (lovely), and then organized all the toys Mati got for her birthday. The kid is going to have to give somethings up before Christmas. Josh was in and out of doing school work all day, but it was so nice spending time together. We have been so busy with life; school, parties, being sick.....we just don't get the time to often to re-group and have some laughs. Josh says I have been way to serious lately and I really just need to let my hair down.

Funny things from this weekend with Madelyne:

She was sitting in the backseat with her hand closed, and I asked her what she had in her hand? She opens her hands with nothing inside and goes "uhhhhh fingers?"

She has been changing her babies diapers left and right and yesterday she would say " ohhh baby yuck....mommy she's got diareeerrraaaa.....lol..."

Last night she took all of our temperatures and gave us medicine.

Josh put together her pink tricycle and she was like "ohhh thank you Josh, I likey this"

Her new thing is "I'll be right back, okay?"

She talks to us like we are complete idiots sometimes. I swear its the funniest thing I have ever heard.

All about Noah:

He is growing great. I feel constant movement now and I am starting to get the bump...some days are good where you can't tell...some days....he is just out there! I will post a picture soon. In a week and a half we will be halfway down! Time Flies!

Here are a couple pictures from yesterday!

Playing with her water table. She would wet her slide, slide, and do it all over again.

Her first hot dog! After finishing her dinner she wanted to try ours. Josh grilled out and so we shared. She was so excited about it, you can see for yourself I am sure :)

Presents with daddy!

Everyone had to get in on the action. Poor Josh!

2 Years Old!

Dear Madelyne,

My Mati moo....ohh how you have grown. You bring so much joy to my life. You really are my heart walking around outside of my body. It may seem silly, but I can't picture my life before you came along and I never want to picture you not in my life. My life began with you. Yes I love your daddy and he has a piece of my heart, but a mothers love is completely different.

Everyday you call for me from your big girl bed and "mommy" has to be the best name I have ever been called. You love to sing. It doesn't matter where we are at or what we are doing. Your daddy and I have been forced to sing "Barney Too", "ABC'S", "Itsy Bitsy Spider", and "Twinkle Star" in restaurants and various public places. You have become quite a little mama thanks to some coaching from mommy(preparing her role as a big sister). You can count to 10 extremely well and you are getting your colors down slowly. You love to read books and Blues Clues rules our TV time. You say your prayers every night, and you are the most sweet natured baby I have ever known. When I am sick or tired you make yourself cozy next so me and kiss all over my face. Then you ask, "Feel better mommy?"I love it. You are such a ray of sunshine and you make my cloudiest day bright. Your smile is contagious, and I pray the man upstairs knows how thankful we are just to hold you everyday.

You are going to be an excellent big sister. You give your brother kisses already, and you let me know he could sit next to you on the front porch. You know you are going to be a big sister and this is an everyday conversation. I just hope your world gets better when we add to it, and you never feel jealous.

You go to the Little Gym now and you love it. You are there every Saturday morning and you let your wild side come out.

Your birthday was a magical day for me. You were surrounded with people that love you, and you got everything your little heart could have desired and more. It was hilarious to watch you try to orchestrate ciaos at your party by yelling for all the kido's to run. You are just the cutest little piece of heaven.

Thank you for being my daughter. Thank you for making everyday better, that's quite a big burden for a such a little girl and you do an excellent job at it! I wish I could just freeze you so you could be my innocent little girl forever.

I love you forever and always,
Mommy

Energy, from where & Big Sister!

Well if you haven't heard it yet, Mati moo is going to be a big sister! I am due around the end of January and we couldn't be more excited! I think it is sooo sad how planned out we are...the first month with Mati we conceived...I told everyone the night I went into labor that I would...and the month I agree'd to for baby numbero 2 ...well you get the picture. I don't take all the credit though....2 people can do what their suppose to but if God doesn't put life there, you get nothing. I just want to say that I am soooo thankful for everything we have been given! We have our names picked out already and I am loving every minute introducing the big sister role to Mati.I think she will make a great older sister. For now January seems a long time away so I will be focusing on my fitness and eating healthy...Bring on the baby weight (in small doses please).

Moving on.. I have had energy from I don't know where. Since I found I have been incredibly happy, but this rush of energy really has me baffled me. I have washed my car..inside and out in this dreadful heat, cleaned things out...made dinner with Josh..cleaning house and doing laundry during the week. That is a little out of my norm. So whatever it is I hope it sticks around. Ohh I will say one thing I was looking forward to being prego again would be some bigger boobs...so far I am still walking around with the little things that Mati left me with, so I am hoping soon I get that side effect from pregnancy.

All About Mati:

This little girl keeps us laughing everyday! She has soo much personality.

One of our Convo's:

Me: I am in a panic looking for my keys, we were running late and I called Josh he had no clue and out of no where Mati says..

Mati: Mommy, where's keys?

Me: I don't know..

Mati: Josh has keys

Me: Ohh daddy has my keys...

Mati: Yeah..

Another one~

I was laying Mati down for bed and josh walked in from letting baxter in.. Mati says..

Mati: Mommy, where's Josh?

Me: He went nite nite like you are..lets go to sleep..

(Josh gives baxter a treat and you hear the glass cling when he puts the lid back on the jar)

Mati: (rolls over and looks at me like I lied) Mommy, Josh gave baxter a cookie.

Me: I know ..now they have to go nite nite..

Mati: rolls back over staring at me like I am a liar....awesome!

Tuesday we tried to get her to run through the sprinkler...she hated it! I sure hope that changes. She informed me that it was water and it made things wet. She hates any dirt on her feet, she comments "ewww" and "gross" when there is anything on them. Kissing her boo boo's still make everything better, which I love. She is into everything..she helps me clean..she recognizes the alphabet and says random letters..we are working on colors and counting..she is doing great and so are we!

Everybody have a great day!
